Title: Overview of Sparse Learning
Abstract:
Sparse learning has been a great tool for Statistics and Machine Learning with many favourable properties. We first give a brief introduction of Lasso, then move to structured sparsity, matrices and so on. We will finish with some modern problems using sparse learning.
Canh Hao Nguyen is an assistant professor at Kyoto University. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of New South Wales, Australia, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from JAIST, Japan. He has been working in machine learning and Bioinformatics. His current interests are machine learning for graph data with applications in biological networks.
